Current Show: The Little Prince

The Little Prince: A Magical Opera
By Rachel Portman and Nicholas Wright
Based on the novel by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

The Little Prince: A Magical Opera, which premiered at Houston Grand Opera in 2003, is an exquisite musical take on a classic story.

Rachel Portman, OBE, who is probably best known for her film scores (she won an Academy Award for Emma and nominations for Cider House Rules and Chocolat), composed music for this show that is appealing to opera and musical theatre lovers alike. According to Bernard Holland of the New York Times, "Deftly handled, The Little Prince makes a lovely opera. It might do well on Broadway" (June 5, 2003), while Stacey Kors of the Financial Times called the work "an enchanting opera that is both faithful to the book and satisfying to child and adult alike" (June 2, 2003).

The show will run about two hours long, including a ten-minute intermission. While it is family-friendly, parents should be aware that there are some scenes that may be surprising or frightening for young children. For more information, feel free to reach out to us.

In addition to performing, Haley has worked behind the scenes on productions such as HBO’s Julia, Peacock’s Vampire Academy, and CBS’s MacGyver.
